NaviCard applications embedded into short stories


First story

Lake Balaton is the largest freshwater lake in Middle Europe. Many arrive here during the summer from Hungary and the neighboring countries. When arriving at Lake Balaton, I looked around one of the friendly lakeside settlements. I decided to spend a few days here. I went to one of the travel agencies with the intention of renting a lakeside resort. At the office, I was shown photographs of free houses along the shore. When selecting the house that I like, the clerk printed the NaviCard card belonging to the house, and gave it to me. I placed the card into the navigation device, and arrived at the selected house in minutes.

Second story

I was walking in downtown Paris, when I saw NaviCard cards of the castles next to the Loire at a newsstand. During my trip in France, I planned to continue my travels to Nantes along the Loire Valley. I bought the card collection containing the pictures of the castles which folds like an accordion. I really liked the picture of one of the castles. I decided to take a short detour and see the castle from up close when I reach the valley of the Loire.

Third story

I was travelling to England by air. I did not rent a car in England, as I was reluctant to drive on the left side. In addition, automobile traffic is limited in downtown London. The London Underground luckily provides simple access to all points of the city. I found an information terminal on the underground platform. I placed the NaviCard card of my hotel into the terminal. The information terminal displayed the route and transfers that I should take to get to the hotel as quickly as possible. I was happy to see that NaviCard also provides a great deal of help to those arriving from abroad when it comes to public transport.

Fourth story

I arrived to "Small country". Lacking a street level digital map, traditional navigation devices cannot be used in this country. However, I have a NaviCard compatible navigation device which can also be used here, as the hotels and famous locations of "Small country" are already available in a NaviCard format. Lacking a digital map, the NaviCard compatible navigation device shows the direction and the distance from the destination similarly to a compass. Using this, I quickly arrived at all locations also in "Small country".

Fifth story

I have long desired to visit Peru and to view the mysterious drawings on the Nazca plateau from up close. However, the arid and huge plateau does not have streets or house numbers, and not even roads. As a result, it was once again NaviCard which helped me reach the most interesting drawings that I selected from a card collection containing the Nazca drawings.

Sixth story

I recently went into a shoe repair shop to buy shoelaces. The shoemaker told me that he only repairs shoes, but does not sell accessories. I was told that there is a store in the neighborhood that sells accessories, and gave me the business card of the dealership. The business card was NaviCard compatible, which made it unnecessary to have to explain how to get to the desired store. I inserted the NaviCard business card into my navigation device, which took me there quickly.

Seventh story

Our company is a small enterprise which assembles various products. During my work, I have to visit subcontractors living in 25 separate settlements who produce parts for my company. It is not easy to keep track of so many locations. Ever since I have been using a NaviCard compatible navigation device to move around, it has made my work much comfortable and quicker. I have a business card holder with pages containing the NaviCard cards of 25 subcontractors. Each card contains a picture of the building of the relevant subcontractor company. Based on the pictures, I can find the card that I need in seconds, without having to use my reading glasses. Sometimes I change my destination while driving. At times like this, I don't even have to stop, as changing the card does not require more attention that for example changing gears.

Eighth story

I am a truck driver. Ever since our company has introduced the NaviCard system, I also receive the delivery addresses on a NaviCard card when receiving the waybill. These cards save me a huge amount of time, as they do not only help me get to the destination address, but also take me directly to the loading ramp where my cargo is to be unloaded. I frequently deliver to huge industrial sites. Getting around the site has been no problem to me since the NaviCard card takes me to the exact loading location.

Ninth story

I drive a fire engine. When the emergency call is received by telephone, our dispatch operator immediately types the destination address into the computer. By the time he hangs up, the NaviCard containing the destination address is printed and ready. Before the fire truck departs, we already know which way to turn, as the NaviCard card programs the destination into our navigation device in a fraction of a second. My friend, who is a paramedic, has mentioned that they have also introduced the NaviCard control system, which saves them valuable minutes. The card also serves as an official printed document containing the time of departure and the destination.

Tenth story

I work at a company providing remote supervision. This is implemented using radio equipment. When an alarm comes in from a location the address containing the street and house number appears on the screen of the dispatch operator. Ever since our company has introduced the NaviCard system, the NaviCard printer start working the same time that the alarm comes in, and prints the NaviCard card belonging to the address, together with the floor plan of the building and the location of the sensor providing the alarm. This greatly help us to deploy faster, and while en route, we can also prepare for where to search for the intruder within the building.

Eleventh story

I work at a real estate office. Ever since we have been using the NaviCard system, we provide our customers with the address on a NaviCard card, which, in addition to the address, also contains a picture of the real estate. Our customer can use the NaviCard provided by us to easily find the property even if that is a farm, a plot of arable land, on other real estate in a place that is difficult to find. Available real estate is also advertised on the Internet. In addition to descriptions and pictures in the searchable databases, we do not only offer a map, but also a NaviCard request icon, so that anyone interested can also get the NaviCard card of the property from the Internet, making it easy to get there and look around before contacting our office with the intent to purchase.

Twelfth story

I made acquaintance with the head of a company working in the Far East at an international conference, who invited me to look at their new production line. When exchanging business cards, I noticed that he also uses a NaviCard business card. I took a taxi from the airport to the city. However, the taxi driver did not speak any foreign languages. I gave him the NaviCard business card which he placed into the navigation device of the taxi. Without speaking a word during the trip, we soon arrived at the company site.

Thirteenth story

I was browsing the Google Maps satellite view when I noticed that the color of the soil was peculiar in the middle of an arable field. I thought that there might be archeological findings under the ground here. I clicked on the NaviCard request icon in Google Maps, and printed the NaviCard card of the location. Since I am an archeologist working in the vicinity, I embarked to look at the field the next day. It was quite an off-road trip with my jeep, but I finally arrived at the location that I had only seen on the satellite image. This way, I had the opportunity to look at the traces discovered on the satellite image from up close.

Fourteenth story

I was using Google Street View the other day to take a virtual trip in downtown Chicago. During the virtual trip, I recognized a cozy restaurant that I happened to visit many years ago. As I did not make note of the location and name of the restaurant at the time, I quickly clicked on the Google NaviCard request button... The finished NaviCard was on the table in front of the printer in seconds. The NaviCard card of the restaurant will now make it easy to find the place. I remember the excellent hospitality and cuisine, this restaurant will be worth paying a visit to in the future.

Fifteenth story

The Internet is an important marketing tool for commercial companies. The quickest way to find the locations of businesses is to use their home page. Today, most businesses also have a NaviCard request icon on their home page. Therefore, whenever I find a product that I'm interested in, I immediately print the NaviCard card of the business, and make note of the name and price of the product selected as a reminder. I put the card into my wallet, and the next time I go shopping, I will no longer have to think about where the store where I can find the product that I have discovered on the Internet is.

Sixteenth story

I am an ornithologist. I have located the nesting place of a few rare species of birds that belong to the field of research of another ornithologist who is a friend of mine. I created a few picture of their nests using my digital camera combined with a GPS receiver. At home, I loaded the image into the NaviCard Designer software, which automatically generates NaviCard cards from images. I have forwarded the NaviCard cards created in this manner to a friend of mine who was very happy to receive my special gift. In his e-mail he told me how he used the NaviCard card to find the exact location of the nest amongst the thick vegetation.

Seventeenth story

I am the CEO of a major car rental company. In order to provide more comfort to our customers, we are providing them with GPS devices to rent. This was the first time for many of our customers to encounter a navigation device. Most of them were unable to use the devices, in part as they did not want to bother reading the manual, and in part due to lack of language skills. As a result, the demand to rent navigation devices had for a long time been marginal. Ever since we are offering NaviCard compatible devices to our customers for rent, the situation has changed drastically. This is a device that everyone can use. All of our customers arriving from abroad are renting navigation devices, and we provide them with a complimentary NaviCard collection as a free gift. This collection contains the card of local sites of interests, restaurants and clubs. We have a contact with these places, and are realizing extra revenues from the card collection as a result. The key rings or our rental cars have a durable NaviCard on them, helping our customers return the rented vehicles to our locations.

Eighteenth story

I am the chief engineer of an internationally acknowledged highway construction company. When setting the alignment of highways, we perform several geodetic survey tasks. These tasks are performed with high accuracy GPS devices. During the work of setting out and verification it is a great opportunity to also be able to export data regarding all points of structures on our drawings in a NaviCard format. The NaviCard card contains the details of the structure, together with data required for our experts. The NaviCard card is able to code geographic locations with an accuracy of 1 millimeter. It is a great help in our field work to be able to prepare these measurements in a form that is easy to review.

Nineteenth story

I bought a ticket to the Formula 1 races, when the ticket sales lady asked me whether I wish to make use of the outdoor parking lot. When I answered yes, she printed my two inch wide ticket, which contained a NaviCard bar code. The lady told me that the ticket is good for parking space 5185, and also includes the parking fee. In addition, the NaviCard ticket will take me exactly to parking space 5185, which has been reserved for me. When the day of the race came, the multitude of cars looking for free parking lot did not slow down traffic; everyone went to their numbered location. I also quickly found my vacant parking lot where I was escorted by the pleasant voice of my navigation device.

Twentieth story

Our company is operating a hotel chain covering several locations throughout the country. All doors in our hotels open using a standard plastic chip card. These cards also contain a NaviCard bar code. As a result, our guests find their way back to the hotel easily after their trips in the neighborhood. We are naturally also using the NaviCard in our room reservation system. All NaviCard cards of all our hotels are on the Internet. The cards contain a picture of the hotel, description of the comfort level, as well as other useful information. Our customers are finding their way to our hotels more easily than ever, and with a 100% accuracy. Our customers really like this service, and are using it on a wide scope.

Twenty-first story

One novelty on display at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) organized annually in Las Vegas was the GPS system also working inside of the building. At the entrance, smiling hostesses were distributing the NaviCard cards of our company stall. Inserting a card into my pocket navigation device, I quickly found the desired stall in the depths of the giant hall.
